November HELPING Hands
Last year, during the holiday season SIFG was able to connect hundreds of people from all across the United States, through one simple giving post.
The concept is simple. If you have outgrown bats, or wrong colored pants, extra softball bows or a never used bat bag cluttering up your space – you can donate or reasonably sell your item to another fastpitch family that may be in need of just that item.
Or, likewise, if your daughter is in need of a longer bat or a pair of cleats – but you just can’t afford Ringor or Demarini’s prices (because really, who can)- the state your need here. Chances are there is someone around that has a gently used item that may be a perfect fit.
For instance, these are some of the example posts from last year…
11-year-old girl, in need of a 30 inch bat.
I have two Xeno bats in my garage that my daughters have outgrown, size 29/19 and 30/20. I also have a black Wilson bat bag that has never been used. Would like to sell the bats for $50 each and am willing to donate the bat bag.
I am a single parent with 3 daughters that play softball and am looking for any youth medium and youth large softball shirts or pants.
I coached for 6 years and my daughter has graduated, have some coaching supplies such as a bow net, tee, and practice balls that I would like to give away to a new team.
Basically, anything goes.Last year we had people donate gift cards, as well as people ask for help for people on their softball teams. The goal is simply to be helpful, and keep in the spirit of the holidays.
Then, simply connect in comments with one another and work out all the details. Last year we were overwhelmed and over joyed with how our community came together to offer and ask for fastpitch items. We do recommend that you exchange all personal information such as address etc. in a personal message or via email. Also, please understand that due to time restrictions, we cannot mediate these posts for you.
We sincerely hope that those in need, and those with something to give will be able to connect through the post. We will pin the post to top of our Facebook page for easy reference. Simple click on the Softball is For Girls page from Facebook, and you will be able to locate it. Additionally, here is a link to the post for easy reference.
