So much for Saturdays spent mending the yard, for sleeping in late after working so hard.
So much for the laundry, or scrubbing the car – the shopping, the cleaning must wait by far.
So much for the weekend spent mowing the lawn, this weekend it seems the weeds won’t get gone.
So much for Saturdays catching up on the chores, there’s just something else that I need to do more.
No barbecues for me, no swimming at the lake – no cooking big dinners or baking big cakes.
No lounging on the couch watching football, no hours spent on a long distance call.
No trips to museums or theme parks or zoos, or rolling down rivers on a lazy canoe.
So much for a Saturday spent lying in bed, as normal we are headed to the ball-field instead.
Up before the sun, leaving the house a big mess, one day I’ll look back and say, “Oh how I was blessed.”
My family will meet us today at the park, and we’ll laugh in folding chairs till well after dark.
The dishes will wait, the dust will get worse, but as for my daughter time just won’t reverse.
So what if some things in my life won’t get done, I’m with the ones that I love having some fun!
My daughter only gets to be a child just one short time, and she likes to spend her Saturdays covered in grime.
Yes, it’s true, I admit it -there’s no place I’d rather be, than watching her play and living carefree.
The smile on her face, the determination and grit, the hard work, the friends, her face when she hits.
The laughter, the cheers, the happiness flows – the way this sport makes her face glow.
I will have plenty of Saturdays left for me when shes grown, so now Saturdays are spent in softball zone.
So, so much for Saturdays – my favorite day of them all, watching her grow up playing softball!
The ball-field may not be your favorite place to be….but its Heaven when you are a softball family!
